We need more kindness in our world

31 July 2017 | General Interest

There was a poor little bare-footed and ragged boy standing in a classroom.  Mother Mary MacKillop went straight to him, and, putting her arms around him, she hugged him, saying:

Ah, Sister, these are the children I love!

2017 LBB AugustNo doubt about it, Mary always had a special gift for seeking out and caring for those for whom the world didn’t have much time.  She had suffered so much in her own life  that she could relate
at once to the suffering of another, especially the poor and helpless.  To these, she reached out with great love and affection.

Kindness was Mary’s trademark – and there is no more convincing proof of holiness.

  • Is there a ‘little bare-footed and ragged one’ in my life? … Someone who needs my special love?
  • How can I show kindness today? … Tomorrow? … Always?

As long as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me

Matthew 25:40
