Mary MacKillop Place Museum receives a boost in Funding

The Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts, the Hon. Peter Garrett MP, today June 30 2010 came to Mary MacKillop Place to announce Australian Government funding to conserve the memorials of seven eminent Australians.  Included in the list of eminent Australians was Mary MacKillop.

Sister Brigette Sipa, the Director of Mary MacKillop Place welcomed Minister Garrett and Senator Ursula Stephens to Mary MacKillop Place and received the grant of $20,000 from Minister Garrett.

The grant will assist with the costs of the $90,000 project to upgrade the resources in the Museum.  A multi- touch screen is to be installed in a table format for visitors to engage in group discussion or individual interaction. Printed versions of the material accessible on the screen will be available. School groups will be able to book a session which is part of the teacher support package available for intensive learning requirements. Historical societies and interest groups will also benefit by the table format to engage in topical discussions as part of their pilgrimage to the site.
